A dad blog by a geek dad with two geeky kids.
Do you notice how you dress up has changed ever since you became a family man? Most of us used to dress sharply as single men and enjoyed the charisma it brings to our personality. But because of the way we live our lives day in and day out as fathers and husbands, the urge to look fashionable could have faded quite remarkably from our priority list.
This happens because of certain factors. Firstly, lack of quality and quantity time for ourselves happened as we spend hours doing two jobs to provide for our family. Related to our responsibility to provide, most of us lack the extra bucks to buy new pair of dress pants and so we are forever stuck with our faded denims. And if we have got extra money, we’d rather put it in our savings for our children. Moving forward, some dads who are able to purchase additions to their wardrobe get discouraged when the no longer have a personal space in the house. Despite all these, we are to dress sharply for our family all the time. Being the man of the house, we represent our families. How we look gives the impression of how we care for every family member. How do we go about this endeavor? Let us start with the selection of appropriate clothes. As much as possible, choose those that are dark in color as they can hide stains from food spills especially when you are with a toddler. Perhaps, you are fond of men’s dress shirts. Purchase shirts that are made of cotton as they are easier to care for. Here is good news for us. We can look smart all year round with just few pieces in our closet. Just ensure they have classic cuts for easy mix and match. |
